Sometime years ago I heard the phrase “Trash to Treasure”. I don’t know if my whimsical creations could be considered treasure, but since I sell them in little shops along the North Coast of Oregon I can definitely say I turn trash to cash. LOL
I have drawers of tin can lids and packaging cardboard. And I have STACKS of magazines to harvest pretty papers and cool alphabet letters. These are the supplies I used for my Repurposed Castaway Inspirational Wall Hangings.
It is fun to find unusual alphabet letters in magazines. When I find an unusual font I get my scissors and clip it! Clipping the font letters saves me $$ at the craft store because I don’t have to purchase chip board letters, and it fulfills my POV to repurpose and recycle as much as possible.
These are the tools you will need to make the Wall Hangings.
Instructions:
Cut the tin lid in half with the tin scissors and make cuts all along the edges similar to sun rays.
Cover the lid pieces with Diamond Glaze completely. Then sprinkle Martha Stewart Glitter on the inside section in one color and use another color for the “sun ray” section.
After the lid pieces are dry, cut the cardboard to fit the width of the tin can lid. Cover the cardboard with some pretty paper. Adhere each tin lid to the paper section on the front side with hot glue. Attach a piece of faux rhinestone with hot glue to finish the edges of the tin lids.
Now it’s fun to decorate! I use alphabet papers in complimentary colors and attach found paper images or images I have purchased from Etsy shops.
Use a little piece of wire for a hanger and attach with scrap paper.
