Never in a million years would I have thought I would learn to solder. I was dubious when I got my first soldering iron 10 years ago and was the proudest I have ever been when my first project was a success. It was a glass crown that I named the NO FROWNS CROWN:
It was the first of my glass crowns which are time consuming but really fun to make.
I fell in love with this broken plate when I accidently ran across it on Etsy. I had to have it because the vision of a crown popped into my head!
It took a lot more time than I wished to make this sweet crown, but I was happy with the result. It makes me happy to give new life to a broken plate. While I was working on the crown I thought about my personal philosophy about brokenness: no one can be truly whole without having brokenness in their life. The miracle of solder, copper foil and flux is like the circumstances in our life that break us and with the Lord’s grace we are put back together again in a new beautiful way.

Today I need to get the soldering iron out to attach the shell top on this vintage bottle I got at a garage sale. It will go in my Merry Mermaids booth in November with the three bottles I have already made. My inventory is starting to add up….YAY!

I am so uncreative! Your things are so amazing!
