My phone caller ID flashed “Chicken Wire Crown Lady” this week. The sweet gal lives on the East Coast and has been purchasing chicken wire crowns that I have made through the years. They USED to sell like hot cakes in the local shops and actually made a major contribution to paying the bills each month. Nowadays the chicken wire crowns have gone out of fashion it seems,
Chicken Wire Birthday Crown
Mother’s Day Crown
Recently I decided to phase them out of production and had to give the bad news to several shops and the Chicken Wire Crown Lady who texted me. But I promised her that I would save the last two crown forms for her and today I made a custom birthday crown for her niece.
I only get $10.00-$12.00 (wholesale and consignment) each for the chicken wire crown and since they don’t sell like hotcakes anymore, they are not worth my time. However there is still a market for different varieties of crowns and I had fun making one today!
I rip magazines apart! If there is a colorful photo it goes in my collection. I have been drooling over this lollipop image I got from a favorite magazine. Today I sorted magazine images by color and this was the red collection.
I don’t think too much when I attach the images. Just cut and paste and see where it goes.
I love the serendipity of images fitting without trying too hard! I use a glue stick on the light bodied papers and hot glue on the stiff papers.
I color is my guide and I don’t fuss about the design because it looks different from every direction.
The top edge is finished with some fringe I found at Michael’s and three holes are punched in the ends of the poster board base and threaded with ribbon for an adjustable fit.
I don’t mind selling these for the same price as the chicken wire which was difficult to store, and frustrating to get the matching size for my template!
