I might need help to overcome my wreath addiction! I am compelled to explore wreaths as art…LOL….there is a picture in my mind of sophisticated folks who need them for decorating. While they sip champagne they murmur “Why didn’t I think of that idea? A wreath as a piece of art?” LOL.
A recent trip to Manzanita was soooo inspiring. I found STUFF there and one of my treasures was a greeting card with a famous Emerson poem written on the front of it. Immediately I saw this wreath in my imagination!
I used one of my Dollar Tree wreath forms and some old copper wire I got at a garage sale this summer. The green bean box was the perfect weight of cardboard and the smooth side of the cardboard gladly accepted the black chalkboard paint. I cut the cardboard into 1 x 4 inch pieces, punched holes in each end and twisted the wire underneath each piece of cardboard.
After a good coat of black chalkboard paint, I cut a little strip of the poem and attached it with hot glue going around the circle and left one strip open so I could print out the word “Success!”. I punched a hole in the little strip that says “Emerson” and hung it on the side with silver thread.
I like the message of the poem. My art usually sell as gifts and I think this wreath would be appropriate for many different occasions after all who doesn’t like SUCCESS? And my wreath looks dressed for success!
thats awesome. So creative and unique. Wreath as art.. I like it! =)
