Burlap and Clay Wreath

I admit I have an addiction to paper clay and am amazed at all the things I can make with it.  I keep the Amazon truck in my street because no shops in my area sell my favorite brand Creative Paper Clay.

I was going through my rubber stamps and found the whimsical leaf stamp and I was off on a journey.  As an artist you never know if what you “see” will turn out, but happily I love my Paper Clay Wreath!

Roll out some paper clay to about 1/8″ thickness

Press the leaf stamp into the clay

Use a razor blade (it works best if you dip it in some water periodically) to cut out the leaf from the rest of the clay.  Smooth the edges with your fingers moistened with water.

Wad up the leftover clay and roll it out to make more leaves!

This is how many you need for a 10 inch wreath picture

Cut some nylon cord or thick twine

I like to use a bowl to use for a pattern for the circle.

A Perfect circle!

Remove the bowl and use a dab of hot glue to tack the cord in several places so it stays.  The space out the leaves and hot glue to the burlap.

I removed the glass from the frame because the texture of the leaves shows better.

So go through your stamp collection and get inspired to try your version of a paper clay craft!
