I made another piece for July Art Walk at Sunrose Gallery in Seaside, Oregon! I hadn’t really planned this piece but when I found this 30″ x 15″ gallery wrapped canvas on sale at Michael’s Craft Store for $7.00 I had to get it. The string lights were in the pile I got at a garage sale last weekend. I love the piece unlit but when it is plugged in….it is pretty cool!
I started by taping off a 3″ border and painted it a pretty turquoise for a beachy theme.
Next, peach polka dots! I like to use a large felt pen that is dipped in some paint for a perfect round dot every time.
I love ArtEmboss, you can use it for so many things. I punched out 2″ circles to make collars for the lights.
Then I pressed one of the string light sockets to make an impression on the circles so I could cut out the collars to fit the string lights.
I made 1″ circles to plan where to punch the holes in the canvas for the string lights. Use an awl to punch the holes, then enlarge the hole with my fingers and trim close to the canvas so there is no fraying.
The “gray” holes are the string light holes. To assemble, place the socket on the back, put a collar around it and screw in the bulb. After I got the string lights finished it was fun to assemble all the goodies that I got last weekend to spell out BEACH HOUSE and I went through my stash to find more components.
I love how it turned out and I just noticed something…..I have to close the top of the letter “A”! OOPS!
