Nowadays it is almost impossible to open a plastic container without a pair of sharp scissors! I usually save clear plastic containers to upcycle into unusual jewelry and got the idea for these fun earrings when I had to take some scissors to open my new earbuds that came sealed in a domed plastic container.
Since the plastic already had a curve to it, I was curious if I could cut strips to make earrings.
The plastic was easy to cut into strips and I dug through my nail polish supply for some bright colors.
Step One: Lay two strips of double stick tape on some paper and place the plastic strips on top, pressing down the ends.
Step Two: Paint stripes on each piece of plastic and let fully dry. Since I am impatient….I work on two sets at a time….work on one while the other one is drying!
While the first set is drying start the process with metallic colors of nail polish.
Step Three: After the polish is completely dry, round the ends with scissors and punch a tiny hole. Add a jump ring to bring the ends together and attach a fish hook earring finding to finish the earrings.
These turned out so bright and cheerful!
I’m so happy how chic and classy these turned out!
Don’t throw your plastic containers away…you never know what they can turn into!
How creative! Those turned out so pretty!
