Celebrate Real Easy Food!



Today is National Food Day which is a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable and sustainably produced food.  To observe the holiday they suggest you “Enjoy some of your favorite healthy foods and use #NationalFoodDay to post on social media.”

National Food Day is observed annually on October 24. One of the targets that Food Day aims to help people is to “Eat Real,” which is defined by them as “cutting back on sugar drinks, overly salted packaged foods and fatty, factory-farmed meats in favor of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and sustainably raised protein.”

When I read the National Food Day statement I thought “Wow, they are describing my good friend Dianna’s website:  Dianna’s Easy Real Food Recipes!  to a tee”. Dianna shows how to make real food but gives tips how to make it EASY.  She doesn’t have recipes with long lists of ingredients…and her posts are loaded with short cut ideas.



The shortcut for this recipe is to use rotisserie chicken which is so much fresher than opening a can of Costco chicken.

She also has convenient (what I call) “clean shopping” tips like this:

“Note: I prefer to use Whole Foods 365 pitted black olives because of the ingredient list. Most black olives contain an ingredient called ferrous gluconate, so in my quest to eliminate any unnecessary ingredients I choose the product with only olives, water and salt.”

Each of her recipes have an easy to print recipe that you can print out to take shopping.  Plus you click on the words “GET THE NUTRITION INFORMATION” and you can discover how many calories, sodium, etc.

This “Chicken Salad In A Whole Grain Wrap With Spinach”  is so tempting!



I made this recipe from Dianna’s blog the last time I had a house full of company. Everyone was cold from a walk on the windy beach and these Baked Asiago Cheese Crisps with a Marinara Dip were a huge hit, with everyone asking for the recipe.
